Welcome Back to 2024
Things were HOT the first few days. Thanks to everyone for hanging in there and modifying their days as we embraced 40° plus days. For the children, it is another of their life adventures and we want them to trust and love the world whatever it brings, good and bad. They will remember those first few days back at school, how hot it was, fondly. A few things were different (we sat under trees more when we were outside, we drank heaps of water to stay feeling fresh) but most things were the same (we saw our friends and teachers after a long summer break and got used to school life again).
We have a great community that celebrates our world and looks for the positive in all things and refuses to sit in fear or angst about what comes to us. Does that sound different to how the world often is? Your children are at a Waldorf/Steiner school to build a strong will, a creative response to the world and clear, free thinking. It is a gift and we are so awesomely lucky to be able to provide it for our kids.
Getting Ready
Before school started, the staff at our school got everything ready. Thanks to everyone involved in doing that. Especially the office team and the Facility, Grounds and Maintenance team (FGM). The grounds both at Bibra Lake and Parkerville are looking vibrant and well cared for despite the big dry.
At Bibra Lake Campus:
As well as general preparation and meetings, we gathered for a few days of professional development and were treated to enlivening talks and activities. Horst Kornberger delighted us at Bibra Lake with an insight into our shared human biography and how that shapes the way we are. He shared ways of having some form of art/spiritual exercises to transform oneself in order to bring about conditions that will support children to develop. It was an inspirational and deeply touching way to begin the year.
At Parkerville Steiner College
The staff were able to take part in Restorative Practice work with guest lecturer Dr Shelley Davidow. One benefit of this work is to foster in the school a sense of community and repairing relationships through open communication and empathy. It’s a deep and valuable practice that can be transformative to individuals, classrooms and communities.
There are many new staff at PSC and the chance to work closely together and get familiar, was invaluable. Thank you to Silver Tree for hosting the PSC staff, it was a lovely day of connection between the primary and high school campus.
We are pleased to welcome so many new families as well as new staff to our school and wish everyone all the very best throughout the year.
With gratitude,

Internet Safety : 6th Feb, 2024 was Worldwide Internet Safety Day
Being safe online is vital for the wellbeing of our children.
The esafety commissioner has lots of good resources on this topic https://www.esafety.gov.au/
Our school is fully engaged at looking at ways of making the online world work positively for students not against their best interest.
Our policy is that students are not getting access to their own personal screen device until they are in Class 8 and parents are actively engaged all along the journey in monitoring and guiding their children in how to be safe and use devices wisely.
Family Participation
A friendly reminder that Family Participation forms for semester 2 of 2023 need to be submitted, follow the link below to access a blank form.
Dear Child of Light, All that you've given I won't forget:
I'll work each day to build for you a special place,
And in my heart prepare a sacred space,
To glorious, golden days of summer-sun are heading.
My striving sometimes fails - and yet
I grow a little every day,
And journey further on my way.

Perth Festival 2024
Perth Festival has been raising a toast to Perth, its people, and its culture on the shores of the Swan River for the last 70 years — cementing itself as the country’s longest-running arts festival. Its 2024 edition is set to commence on the 9th of February and will run until early March in celebration of our shared humanity and Ngaangk’s (which means both “sun” and “mother” in Noongar) effect on Earth. Punters can expect a warm and welcoming selection of performances, film, fine and contemporary music, literature, and visual arts.
When: Friday, 9th February to Saturday, 3rd March, 2024
