RAP is back!
A Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is a formal commitment to reconciliation. At PWS, we acknowledge that our school is built on the lands of the Whadjuk Noongar People. We honour and respect this place and its traditional custodians, and we celebrate our strong relationships with community. Our RAP group have begun meeting again to explore further opportunities for our students and school community to learn about this place and the Noongar culture, including traditional land, food and fire practices, music and art. We look forward to welcoming interested parents, guardians and students into the RAP group as the year progresses.
Meanwhile, here are some beautiful Noongar words to build into your days, as taught by Nan Roma Winmar:
Kaya! | Hello! |
Boodjar | Earth / Country / Land |
Biidi | Path / Energy |
Moort | Family |
Koorlangka | Children / Legacy |
Koort | Heart |
Moorditj | Strong |
Boorda! | See you soon! |
Another great way to learn a language is through song! Listen to Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse's album "Koorlangka" for familiar children's songs sung in Noongar.
Boorda!
