Bibra Lake - (Classes 9 -12)
Class 9 Chemistry
In the Year 9 Chemistry Main Lesson, students immersed themselves in the captivating world of the transformation of plant substances and their significant role in our everyday lives. Their exploration extends to critical processes like photosynthesis and respiration, which are at the heart of the transformation of light energy and carbon dioxide into life-sustaining substances.
Furthermore, students have been diving into the concept of combustion, understanding how this process transforms plant-derived substances, such as carbohydrates, into energy, carbon dioxide, and water. This not only highlights the importance of plants as a source of energy but also emphasizes their connection to the cycles of matter on our planet. Alongside these fundamental concepts, the students have delved into the production of various compounds like alcohol, ethers, and esters and have gained insights into how these substances, too, undergo transformations that are applied in our daily existence, from the production of fuels to the creation of scents and flavours. This Main Lesson not only equips students with a profound understanding of chemistry but also underscores the vital role of chemical transformations in shaping the world around us.

Class 12 Project Presentations
In week 3 this term, the community are warmly invited to attend our Class 12 Project Presentations.
The Presentations are a consolidation of the Class 12’s Project at Perth Waldorf School. They will be sharing the knowledge they have gained, the skills they have learnt, as well as a personal account of their own unique journey as developing human beings.
The Project is a significant way to launch our Class 12’s, ensuring they are equipped to step into an ever-changing and dynamic world - but also to leave with a sense of deep satisfaction of having done something that holds meaning.
The full programme is below. Additionally, all presentations will be live-streamed this year during Presentation Week, beginning Monday 23rd October at 5.20 pm. This link is also in this week's edition and on the School Facebook page.
Be prepared to be inspired and moved by these worthy pursuits.
